Tree and shrub roots love drains. They find tiny gaps in pipe joints, grow inside looking for water and slowly fill the pipe. The result is a drain that blocks again and again. C&R Drainage removes roots from domestic and commercial drains across Kent and the South East using root cutters and high-pressure jetting.
Older clay pipes with mortar joints are the most at risk, which is why we see root problems so often in older homes. Once roots get in, they catch paper and waste and build a blockage around themselves. Cutting them out clears the drain. Sealing the pipe afterwards, often with a no-dig reline, stops them coming back.
Repeat blockages in the same spot, slow drains near trees or hedges, and gurgling from outside gullies are all common signs. A CCTV survey will confirm it and show how far the roots have spread. The earlier you deal with them, the less damage they do to the pipe.
We show you the roots on camera before and after we clear them, and give you honest advice on stopping them coming back. You get a clear quote before we start. We cover all of Kent, including Sittingbourne, Maidstone, Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Rainham, Faversham, Canterbury, Sheerness and the Isle of Sheppey, Gravesend and Dartford, plus Medway, Essex, London, East Sussex and Surrey.
They can if the joints stay open. Relining the pipe seals the gaps and is the best long-term fix.
Not usually. Clearing and sealing the drain is normally enough.
No. We work from inside the pipe through the manhole, so there’s no digging in most cases.
We run a CCTV camera through the pipe so you can see the roots for yourself.
